Day 22: Moving Beyond What You Can See

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV

“Faith does not deny what your eyes can see. Faith simply refuses to believe that what you see is all there is.” — Dr. Daniel LeBlanc

Moving Beyond What You Can See

Faith does not require us to deny what we see. The problem may be real, the report may be real, and the circumstances may be difficult. But what we see with our natural eyes is not necessarily all there is.

Paul said, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” Faith looks beyond the visible because it has heard something from God. This is where God Imagination becomes so important. God’s Word and His voice can paint a picture within our hearts before our natural eyes ever see it.

Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 NKJV. Learning to hear God’s voice is crucial because it is foundational to intimacy with Him. God does not only want us to know about Him. He wants us to know Him.

Abraham understood this. James 2:23 says, “And he was called the friend of God.” Abraham walked with God, heard God speak, and learned to respond to what he heard. Before Abraham could believe the promise, he first had to hear the One who made the promise.

Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” The Greek word translated “word” is rhēma, meaning a saying, utterance, or spoken message. In context, Paul is speaking about hearing the message of Christ proclaimed. There is a powerful principle here: faith grows through hearing and receiving what God has spoken.

The written Word and the voice of the Holy Spirit work together in perfect harmony. The Holy Spirit brings God’s truth alive within us, and His voice will always agree with the character and truth God has revealed in Scripture.

Sometimes circumstances are painting one picture while God is speaking another. The question becomes, which one will have the greatest influence over your imagination?

God Imagination is not creating whatever picture we want and asking God to fulfill it. It is knowing God, hearing Him, and allowing His Word and His voice to paint His picture within us.

Do not let what you see become louder than what God has said. Get quiet enough to hear Him, and allow what He says to become the picture you believe.

Prayer

Father, teach me to walk by faith and not merely by sight. Holy Spirit, help me know Your Word and hear Your voice more clearly. Like Abraham, I want to walk with You as a friend who knows Your heart, hears Your voice, and responds when You speak. Amen.

Today’s God Imagination

Today I will get quiet and ask, “Father, what are You saying to me?” I will listen, test what I hear by His Word, and respond in faith.
